Mobile payments may be fairly new in the U.S., but Juniper Research predicts the global industry is poised to boom: A new reports estimates 2.5 billion people globally will use mobile payments by 2015.
It will be interesting to see how the mobile payments landscape evolves over the next few years, especially in the U.S. We’re excited to be at the forefront of an industry expected to experience such rapid growth.
Fast Company picked up our news that Isis will launch in Austin next year. Known for its progressive, tech savvy population, Austin is a perfect place to launch mobile commerce. We were excited to see the Austinist shed light on another benefit of Isis’ mobile commerce platform—mobile coupons. Isis’ mobile wallet will allow consumers to store and redeem coupons, loyalty cards and offers.
Today is a big day – we’ve announced that Austin will join Salt Lake City as an Isis launch market in 2012. One local merchant, Ben White Florist, told Austin American-Statesman said the concept of mobile commerce is incredible. “People in Austin, they want to do business with businesses that are up with the times,” the owner explained.
